Interest in the reduction of pesticide usage in agriculture, management of plant diseases by genetic resistance and cultural and management means, agro-solar dual use of agricultural lands, breeding horticultural crops for disease resistance and expertise in basil.
Cohen has supervised more than 70 graduate students. Published 251 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Current research interests include the epidemiology of oomycete plant diseases and their management by genetic, chemical, and physical means, with special emphasis on basil downy mildew, cucumber downy mildew, and potato late blight.
